Elsa Joan Houck, 73, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at UHS Wilson Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born Oct. 24, 1946, in Walton, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Muriel Howes Corgan.

 Elsa worked as a postal clerk for 30 years in Trout Creek, always greeting people with her warm smile. She loved animals, especially hummingbirds, and enjoyed feeding the birds. Elsa crocheted baby quilts, hats and mittens for newborns at the neonatal center at Wilson Hospital and for those less fortunate. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Deposit and was active up until several years ago due to her health.

Survivors include her children, Shannon Shelton (John) of Trout Creek, Patrick Houck Sr. (Pamela) of Walton, Matthew Houck (Sheri Soules) of Walton, and Bunny Houck of Sidney; grandchildren Zachary Correale, Nicholas Correale, Patrick Charles Houck Jr., Alexzander Houck, Katelynn Houck, Hailey Soules, Dawson Vanderpool, Hannah Soules, and Shawn Springett; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and special friends Sylvia Gibson of Hamden, her friend since high school, and Judy and Jon Seeley.

Elsa was predeceased by her husband, Charles Houck, who passed away in 1981; brothers Marshall Corgan, Paul Corgan, Herm Corgan, and Herbert Corgan; sisters Evelyn Oralls and Jean McAdams; sister-in-law Amy Corgan; and special friend Rose Dow.

Funeral services to celebrate Elsa’s life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Elsa will be laid to rest at Walton Cemetery, Walton. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m. at the American Legion, Guntown Post 1554, Trout Creek.
