Edmund O. Jones, 73, a longtime resident of Walton, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Ed was born on Nov. 25, 1948, in Walton, the son of the late Lewis and Helen (Jubar) Jones. He called Walton his home for many years. He loved farming, especially milking cows and harvesting corn. He traveled cross-country several times, visiting every state but Alaska and Hawaii. He worked at various farms across the country with his favorite being the Powell Farm in Virginia. Upon returning to Walton he worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight, Syracuse, and retired to his family home on Chipmunk Hollow.

He was a member of the Sidney Center Baptist Church. Ed was a student of the Bible and its teachings. He could often be found almost anywhere reading his

well-worn Bible, quoting a passage or two, that would explain the world around him and his place in it. His dream was to be a pastor and had taken many courses over the years for that.

In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and his favorite animal, the dairy cow. But mostly he loved children, especially his nieces, nephews and their children.

Ed is survived by his loving family, his brothers Lewis and Donna Jones and Stephen and Reva Jones, both of Walton; his sisters Florence Amey, Lockwood, and Lenore and Stephen Dutcher, Walton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, at 12 noon at the Pines Brook Baptist Church, 1444 Pines Brook Road, Walton, with Pastor Chris Bosnyak, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the Pines Brook Baptist Church, or Camp Bayouca, 100 Camp Spaulding Road, Smithville Flats, NY 13841.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Courtney Funeral Home, Walton. Condolences to the family may be made at www.courtneyfh.com.
