Dolores R. Calabrese, 89, of Walton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 at her home.

Born on May 26, 1932 in North Bergen, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Herbert E. and Claire Jeffrey.

Dolores was an amazing cook who cherished family meals every Sunday. She also enjoyed 4-wheeling and snowmobiling with the family. Dancing, camping and boating were among many activities that Delores enjoyed with her late husband, John.

Dolores met John A. Calabrese at a local dance in Andes. The two married on June 6, 1948 and resided in Andes until moving to the Walton area around 1957. John passed away in 1995 after 47 years of marriage.

Survivors include her children Terry L. Calabrese, Donna A. Calabrese and Kim D. “Tim” Calabrese; her significant other Edward Palmatier; grandchildren Christine Ward, BJ Calabrese, Jackie Calabrese, Terry Lee Calabrese Jr., Ashlee Calabrese, Tiffany Schilmann, John J.A. Holden, Rebecca Schoener and Joshua Calabrese; great-grandchildren Brandon Ward, Emily Ward, Jewel Twyman, Patience and Jackson Schilmann; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by two sons Robert J. Calabrese who passed in 2020 and Ronald M. Calabrese who passed in 1968; a sister, June Lodavice; and a great-granddaughter Destiny Twyman.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street in Walton. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Golding officiating. Burial will follow at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue in Walton.
