Delhi Film & Discussion: Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America

Posted by LauraKM

Organizers of Get Woke! Film Series and Conversations on Race announce a screening of the film Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America (2017) on Sunday, January 26 from 4-6 pm at SUNY Delhi’s Sanford Hall (Room 250). A conversation about the film and what it means to our community, led by educator and advocate Karina Walker, will follow the film. This event is free and open to the public with refreshments served.

Forbidden tells the story of Moises Serrano, an undocumented Mexican immigrant who was raised in rural North Carolina. Serrano fell in love with the only country he’s ever known, but the country refuses to recognize his full humanity as an undocumented immigrant and gay man. The film follows his personal journey as an activist fighting for the American dream.
