Delaware County's First COVID-19 Death Announced

DELHI – Delaware County Public Health officials announced the county's first virus-related death Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release, the patient had been hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms and died on April 1.

No further details are being released. Officials say six people remain hospitalized with the virus, 10 people are isolating at home, and two have recovered. A total of 43 county residents are in mandatory quarantine and another nine are in precautionary quarantine.

In Otsego County, 63 year old Brenda Utter of Morris has been identified as the first person to die of the virus there. Her husband, Phillip, who works at Amphenol-Aerospace in Sidney, has now also been confirmed positive for COVID-19. The company has not responded to requests for comments on safety measures in place for other employees.
