David Gerald Adams, 81, born and raised in Walton, New York, passed away on Aug. 29, 2021, at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He is predeceased by his parents, Freda (Shields) and Giles Adams, his sister Ruth Sadecki and his daughter Kristine Kalman.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Knapp), brother Robert (Elizabeth), sister Joan McBurney (Donald), and his children Kim Adams (Bruce Horn), and Michael (Jackie), “other daughter” Patty Bowker, and Joan’s children Christina Condon (Joe), and Michael Woodin; his grandchildren Corin, Christopher, Heather, Adam, Elizabeth, Madeline, Jordan, Morgan and Mikaylee. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends too numerous to mention.

Out of high school, Dave worked his way through college by working on the construction of the Cannonsville Reservoir Project. He later helped his father deliver milk for H.L. Adams Dairy, before going into real estate.

He became a local realtor which led him to be named president of the NYS Realtors Association and President of the NYS Appraisers Society, as well as belonging to the Board of National Realtors Association. He was president of the Walton Kiwanis. He was a member of the Walton Board of Education. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a proud Mason. He was very active in politics and was the chairman for the Delaware County Republican Committee. He later went to work for New York state in Internal Affairs. His last employ was at Courtney Funeral home. When he was not working or serving his community, he loved to travel and golf.

He was a longstanding member of the Walton United Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, member of the finance committee, Chairman of the Pulpit Nominating Committee and a dedicated choir member. He loved to be part of any musical production at the Walton Theatre, and loved his role as Tevye.

One of his greatest achievements was helping others, whether it was at his church, taking someone to a doctor’s appointment, visiting someone at home or at the infirmary or even driving to New York City on an airport run. He was proud to be from Walton, New York and anyone who knew him, knew that. His time with us may be done but we will forever hear him tell us it was “Good, Good, Good.”

The family will receive friends at Walton United Presbyterian Church, 58 East Street, Walton on 10 a.m. on Sept. 18, with funeral services beginning at 11 am. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery with arrangements being handled by Courtney Funeral Home.
