Dave Brandt TU Chapter Hosts Environmental Biologist Tom Hughes March 10

ONEONTA, — The Dave Brandt local Trout Unlimited (TU) Chapter will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 7:00 PM at The Plains Senior Living Center, 163 Heritage Place, Oneonta, in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room.

This month’s featured speaker will be Tom Hughes, Environmental Stewardship Biologist with the New York State Parks. Hughes will present on his extensive work in fisheries, conservation, and natural resource management.

With more than 25 years of experience, Hughes has worked with Cornell University & Cooperative Extension, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry, Wells College, and the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. For the past 17 years, he has led environmental stewardship efforts at NYS Parks, overseeing a team of over 20 staff, including interns and conservation stewards.

One of Hughes’ most significant career achievements has been the creation and implementation of the FORCES program (Friends of Recreation, Conservation, and Stewardship), which fosters conservation and recreational opportunities across New York State parks.

Following Hughes’ presentation, the TU Chapter will hold a short business meeting, and attendees can enjoy coffee and refreshments. The evening will conclude with a monthly raffle, offering five or six quality prizes. Raffle tickets will be available for $1 each.

The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to attend and bring a friend.
