County COVID-19 Numbers Continue to Rise

DELHI – Delaware County Public Health officials Wednesday evening said that the number of positive cases of coronavirus reported in the county is now up to 23. Five additional cases were confirmed, with one of those five reports sent to the county where the person involved now lives.

The New York State Department of Health is first notified of cases, and it sends those confirmations to the counties involved. In some cases, county health officials find that the patient is not actually in the county and they transfer the paperwork to the correct county.

According to a press release, the total number of cases transferred is four. Nine local patients are isolating at home, eight are hospitalized, and two have recovered.

A total of 43 people are in mandatory quarantine in Delaware County, nine are in precautionary quarantine. So far, 164 people have been tested, 120 tests were negative, and 21 are still pending.

In his press conference today, Governor Andrew Cuomo said the newest projections show the virus peaking in the state at the end of this month.
