Country, folk and pop music at Walton Farmers Market July 1

The Grant Rogers Project has introduced its first performer at the Walton Farmers’ Market Music series on Friday, July 1, from noon to 2 p.m. Local singer/guitarist Larry Jamieson will open the season with a range of country, folk, and pop songs.

Jamieson calls Walton home, though he spent time in Oklahoma studying country music and working in educational television before returning to Walton to run the Walton Music House. Jamieson has played in various dance bands including Hilton Hoyt’s and Bruce Hoyt’s bands. In 1998, he co-founded “Country Express Band,” which still exists today, although he recently retired from the band. Jamieson is recognized locally for his music activities and his support of community music.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County sponsored farmers’ market is held every Friday from July through September from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Veterans’ Plaza on Delaware Street. Folks are invited to enjoy shopping at the farmers’ market while listening to some of Delaware County’s traditional music performed by local and regional musicians.

The music series will continue weekly through Sept. 2 and is possible with a tourism grant from Delaware County occupancy tax and the Walton Chamber of Commerce, Palmer’s Repair Shop, and several anonymous donors.
