Clarice Valentine, 86, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., formerly of Delhi, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 4, 2022, at Woodview Estates of Mays Landing, New Jersey.

Clarice was born Oct. 9, 1935 in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Clarence and Madeline (Davis) Nichols. She was a graduate of Walton High School, class of 1953. On Jan. 2, 1954, she married the love of her life, Ernest W. Valentine, in Walton. They were married for 61 wonderful years before he predeceased her on Jan. 12, 2015. Clarice was an incredibly special lady who enjoyed helping others. She worked at Delaware Academy for many years as a teacher’s aide and loved all the children there. The kids loved going trick or treating at “Mrs. Valentines” on Halloween. She also was a Girl Scout leader and was active in the Presbyterian Church. A hard worker in everything she did, lending a hand to anyone who needed it, Clarice always put other’s needs before her own. She loved to bake and always had homemade cookies available, ready to give to anyone who dropped by. More than anything else, Clarice loved her family. She was happiest when all the family was together for special occasions.

Clarice is survived by her loving family, her children, Ernest and Debra Valentine Jr. of Walton; Deborah (David) Bolles of New Hampshire; Phyllis Valentine and Jim Rash of New Jersey; her grandchildren Kyle, Matthew, Brent, Rachel, Casey, and Joseph; her great-grandchildren Declan, Maxwell, Elaina, Daxtin, Lane, Gordon, Waylon, and Charlotte; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Valerie Stewart in 2007, and her brother, Maxwell Nichols in 1997.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, April 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will also be held on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays, officiating. Burial to follow in Walton Cemetery.
