Carole Eckert, 73, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at her home surrounded by her beloved family.
Born Sept. 16, 1946 in Walton, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Marjorie (McClenon) Green.
On April 12, 1975, Carole married Leonard “Lenny” Eckert. They were married for 29 years before he passed away in 2004.
Carole and her husband Lenny owned Walton Lanes for many years. She was a long-time member of New Beginnings Alliance Church. Carole was a wonderful caregiver to those in need; her best times were spent with her close friends and family. One of her favorite hobbies was attending garage sales. She played cards weekly with the same people for over 40 years. She also loved participating at the Delaware County Fair Store for many years and worked with Wilsons’ Barbecue to help raise money for the community.
Carole is survived by her children, Tonya Eckert (Mike Rutherford) of Walton, Ted Eckert of Binghamton, Mark Eckert of Walton and Tina Eckert of Walton; brothers John Green (Laura) and Jamie Green (Carla); sisters Claudia Smith, Sande Paul (Bill), Shirley Brown (Kevin), and Stacy Dean (Bill); and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Green; grandchildren Kalei Walley (Dalton), Garrett Eckert (Beth), Kyle Eckert, Brett Eckert, Chasity Eckert, Tanner Eckert, Chad Conway, Christopher Conway, and Cody Conway (Jamie). Carole is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carole was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Leonard “Lenny” Eckert; brother Marc Green and sisters Alana M. Benson and Dixie Green.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 7, from 11-1 p.m. at New Beginnings Alliance Church, 110 Stockton Avenue, Walton. A service to celebrate Carole’s life will follow at 1 at the church with Pastor Paul Chang and Bill Paul, officiating. Carole will be laid to rest at Walton Cemetery in the spring at a day and time to be announced.
