Brayton R.J. Gleason, 37, of Manlius, passed away suddenly at home on May 15, 2022 of natural causes.

He was born in Walton on Dec. 21, 1984. He graduated from Walton Central School in 2003 and received a BS in political science from SUNY Oneonta. Brayton was a member of the debate team and Future Business Leaders of America in high school. He had a great knowledge and interest of world history and civilizations, with a special interest in world wars. Brayton always enjoyed lively discussions with friends and family.

Brayton worked at Vern Wildenstein’s Landscaping and Greenhouses in Walton for a few years, which gave him a great appreciation for plants and landscaping. He also mowed the lawn at Walton Cemetery.

He worked for a short time as a caseworker at Delaware County Child Services in Delhi until he went to work for Oneonta Job Corps. Brayton spent several years there as a residential dorm advisor, a counselor, and as a driving instructor helping students get their licenses.

Currently, Brayton was employed by the Securitas’ Security Services USA and was working security for Knowles in Cazenovia and the Syracuse Airport. He also filled in at many places around Syracuse when he was needed.

Brayton was a talented landscaper who enjoyed working outdoors with his hands. He loved football, music and videos, and riding his zero-turn, cranking up his music and mowing for hours. He had a great appreciation for nature and all kinds of animals, especially his dog, Dyson.

He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his parents, Tom and Cindy Gleason of Manlius; his sister Sarah (Matt) Kazmierski of Chittenango; his brother Aaron Gleason of Manlius, all formerly of Walton, and nieces Alaina and Katie Kazmierski of Chittenango. He will be truly missed by his uncles and aunts, Mike and Debbie Gleason of Erieville, Dan and Valerie Hitt of Oneonta, and Lynn Gleason of Manlius. Brayton also had many cousins.
