Betty Locaso

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Jane Locaso, age 75, of Downsville announces her passing away due to complications related to cancer on Dec. 20, 2020, in Bel Air, Maryland. She was born in Walton and attended Walton High School. In her early years she worked at the County Shopper selling ads and later owned the Trading Post in Walton. Betty loved retail and setting up at different shows and festivals but her favorite was always the Delaware County Fair. She loved talking to people, seeing old friends and of course - making money.

More than anything Betty adored her family and especially her grandkids. When the weather turned to winter she made her way down the east coast to Maryland and South Carolina, visiting her daughters and grandkids, eventually landing in Florida to spend time with her sons and grandkids. In Florida you could find her on the bocce court, playing tennis or hitting the casino, and in the summers in New York having early morning coffee with her friends in Downsville and later on with the girls in Walton. Even though she was retired she still enjoyed setting up at a show from time to time, golfing and helping with senior meals.

She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Yankees and Giants, but what she really loved the most was to watch her family play sports, from the early years with her children and the Booster Club and Small Fry Football to high school sports, then later, her grandkids on the field.

Betty was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Daisy (Inman) O’Dell, brother James O’Dell and husband Louis Locaso. She is survived by her daughters Shari (Peter) LoPresti and Nicole Zujovic; sons Anthony (Andrea) VonAldenbruck and Dennis (Katie) VonAldenbruck; grandchildren Kate, Olivia, Lauren, Alec, Emily, Allison, Elizabeth, Gracie, and Easton - stepsons Louis (Dee) Locaso Jr. and Gregory Locaso; grandchildren Jessica, Amanda, Ryan, Sidney, Katie, Gregory, great-grandkids Aubrey and Bryce and the extended loving Zujovic family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty’s name to Meals for Seniors - checks made to Janet Champlin, PO BOX 143, Downsville NY 13755 or Church of the Holy Family, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton, NY 13856.
