Betty J. Tweedie, 87, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Jan. 10, 1933 in Walton, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Marian Hitt Griffin. Betty married Donald C. Tweedie on Sept. 13, 1953, and he predeceased her in November of 1982. Before the birth of her children, she worked as a proofreader at The Reporter Company. Betty was a very talented seamstress and did many alterations over the years for Webb’s, Style Shop and Family Shopping Center in Walton. She was a long time and devoted member of the Walton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters Karen Prestidge (Elmer) of Walton and Diane Seidner of Walton; grandchildren Donald Prestidge (Emily) and Shawn Prestidge (Ryan); great-grandchildren Evelyn Prestidge and David Prestidge and cousin Richard Griffin.
Betty is predeceased by her beloved husband Donald C. Tweedie.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5-7 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A graveside service will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton, with Pastor Kent Terchunian officiating.
