Betty Gransbury

Betty A. Gransbury, 85, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a long illness.

Born Oct. 3, 1936 in Walton, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Genevieve Seymour Finch.

On July 11, 1954, Betty married the love of her life, Harvey Gransbury, in Sidney Center. They celebrated 45 years of marriage until his passing in 1999.

Betty worked at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (formerly Delaware County Infirmary) from 1976 until her retirement in 2000 from the housekeeping department. She was always very proud of the many friends she made over her 25 years and still kept in touch with several of them. Betty loved Elvis and John Wayne movies and was an avid collector of dolls and Betty Boop memorabilia. She also enjoyed taking her kids when they were younger to the Sidney Dam and Masonville Pond for picnic and fishing trips.

Survivors include her children Randy Gransbury (Jamie), Steve Gransbury (Elaine), Peg Thompson (Bennett), Bob Gransbury (Constance), David Gransbury, Rick Gransbury, Willy Gransbury and Danny Gransbury; sister Diane Alcott and brothers Joel Finch and Danny Finch. Betty is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents, Betty is predeceased by her beloved husband Harvey Gransbury; daughter Sue Gransbury and grandson Matthew David Gransbury.

Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held on Friday, Oct. 15, from 12-1 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. Funeral services for Betty will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Masonville Cemetery, Masonville.
