April Programs At Sidney Library

Sidney Memorial Public Library has released its scheduled events for April 1 - 16. Call the library at 607-563-1200 to register for programs and activities, or with questions. 

Smart Community Room exhibits are back. April’s exhibit will be from our own Sidney Quilting Group “In-Stitches”. Take a break and enjoy beautiful quilts created by these talented artists. The group meets on the first and third Mondays of the month from 1:30-4 p.m. in the Community Room. New members of all skill levels are welcome.

Saturday, April 2

10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Adult Art Class: Faux-Stained Glass. Registration is required and a $5 materials fee and design choice is due at sign-up. Participants will learn a new method to create this faux-stained glass look. For questions email: si.cassandra@4cls.org. 

10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte is hosted every first and third Saturday of the month in the main lobby of the library.

Monday, April 4

1:30-4 p.m.: In-Stitches Quilting Group; open to all skill levels. Beginner assistance available.

Tuesday, April 5

10 a.m.: StoryTime - books about spring, fun with songs, rhymes, and a craft.

10:45 a.m.: Music for Munchkins - lively music, movement, action songs and dances.

3:30-5 p.m.: In-Person Minecraft Club for ages 8-17. Participants will join the Library’s Private World and help complete objectives/create. If the class is full, participants will have an opportunity to play with the Osmo station or Robots Dash & Dot while waiting for a turn to play Minecraft. 

Wednesday, April 6

3:30-4:30 p.m.: Hybrid Lego Club: Builders of all ages welcome. Receive a new Lego challenge and share your Lego Masterpiece via a Zoom or in-person. Builders will then share their creations with the other participants. Zoom link:  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/95009586932

6-7:30 p.m.: Teen Night: Graphic Design. If you are in grades 7-12, join us for free Teen Nights for crafts, games, computer fun, and...we always serve pizza.

Thursday, April 7

3-4:30 p.m.: Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra: featured artist Paul Klee with line & abstract art. This in-person program was designed for different school aged children. Crafts, STEAM, and other types of activities to encourage participants’ creativity - a different craft/activity every week.

Tuesday, April 12

10 a.m.: StoryTime - books about bugs, fun with songs, rhymes, and a craft.

10:45 a.m.: PreK Library Learners - your child will learn having fun with books, songs, rhymes, and more. Theme: counting rhymes. The number of the day is “3.” 

3:30-5 p.m.: In-Person Minecraft Club - see above.

Wednesday, April 13

11 a.m.: PreK STEM - exploration and experimentation to encourage your child’s curiosity. LEGO Education coding train will continue. 

3:30-4:30 p.m.: Hybrid Lego Club builders of all ages welcome. 

5:30-7:15 p.m.: Open Tech Help; registration required. If you struggle with your phone, laptop, or tablet, stop or call to register for an open tech help space. Thursday, April 14

3-4:30 p.m.: Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra. DIY s’more pizza oven.

Friday, April 15

1 p.m.; Family movie featuring Clifford in the Smart Community Room with free light refreshments. Fun for the whole family.

Saturday, April 16

10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Acrylic Painting with Joy, an amazing adult painting class for beginner and intermediate painters. Registration required and a $5 materials fee is due at sign up. 

10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte in the main lobby of the library.
