WALTON — Caroline Moffett has spent nearly a century giving care — to her family, to her neighbors, and to her community. On Friday, May 16, Delaware Valley Hospital returned the gesture, celebrating Moffett’s 99th birthday with balloons, cake, and memories inside the same hospital where she once worked and where, today, she’s receiving the best care she could ask for.
Born May 16, 1926, in New York City, Moffett came of age during the Great Depression and came into adulthood as World War II reshaped the world. In 1947, she married Richard J. Moffett, a returning Army veteran, and together they raised five children. After her husband’s passing, Caroline moved to Walton on November 1, 1975, with her children - Kathy and John, beginning a new chapter rooted in community and family service. Caroline's daughter Carolyn (Moffett) Aiello, was owner and operator of Walton's Aiello's Pizzeria and Restaurant.
Moffett worked in the dietary department at Delaware Valley Hospital until retiring in 1988 at age 62 — not to rest, but to help care for her grandchildren. Her legacy of service at DVH has continued through her daughters Joan and Kathleen, both of whom became licensed practical nurses, and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Moffett, who now serves as Director of Primary Care. Her sons, Richard Jr. and John, both served with the Walton Fire Department’s emergency squad as EMTs.
Now, nearly a century into her life, Moffett’s presence remains a quiet but powerful thread in Walton’s community fabric — one of family, dedication, and enduring care.
