2023 deadlines for town, county, state elections

2023 political calendar

Feb. 14 - Change of enrollment form must be received. Any change of enrollment made between Feb. 15 – July 5 shall be effective July 5.

Designating petitions

Feb. 28 - First day to sign.

April 3-6 - Dates for filing.

April 18 - Last day to file authorization: last day to accept or decline.

Independent petitions

April 18 - First day to sign.

May 23–30 - Dates for filing.

June 2 - Last day to accept or decline (certificate must be filed at board of elections). 

June 30 - Last day to decline after acceptance if nominee loses primary.

Primary election

June 17 - Last day application must be received by board of elections to be eligible to vote in primary election.

June 17 - Last day for county board of elections to receive a change of address from registered voter.

June 12 - Last day for county board of elections to receive application or letter of application by mail or online portal for primary ballot.

June 26 - Last day to apply, in person or by agent, application for absentee ballot. 

June 27 - Last day to postmark ballot. Ballot must be received by July 4.

June 27 - Last day for ballot to be delivered in person to the board of elections, or your poll site before polls close. Polls open at 6 a.m. - close at 9 p.m.

General election
Nov. 7 -
General election - polls open at 6 a.m. - close at 9 p.m.

Dates for registration, enrollment and absentee ballots:

Oct. 28 - Last day for application to be received by the board of elections to be eligible to vote in the general election.

Oct. 28- Last day for board of elections to receive a change of address from registered voter.

Oct. 23 - Last day for the board of elections to receive application or letter of application by mail or online portal for general election absentee ballot.

Nov. 6 - Last day to apply in person for general election absentee ballot.

Nov. 7 - Last day to postmark ballot. Ballot must be received by Nov. 14.

Nov. 7 - Last day for ballot to be delivered in person to the board of elections or to your poll site, by close of polls.

General election early voting will take place Oct. 28 – Nov. 5, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
