Walton Fire Department holds annual awards ceremony

WALTON - The Walton Fire Department held its annual awards ceremony, Saturday, Feb. 17.

Among the awards presented were:

Richard “Dick” Doig was recognized for 40 years of service.

Courtney Cetta was presented with the “2023 Squad Person of the Year” award recognizing her determination and dedication to both the EMS squad and the fire department.

Robert “Bob” Lang was presented with the “2023 Firefighter of the Year” award acknowledging his “consistent good character, outstanding reputation, and the life he has led are nothing short of a prime example that we should all strive for and let us use as an example to guide our futures.” He is just always there, the award said; fair, strong, and unwavering.

Brennon Tompkins was presented with the “2023 Olmstead Award” for his perseverance in for his recruitment efforts. Tompkins was recognized for initiating drills and other learning opportunities with neighboring departments, among other achievements.

Art Munn was recognized for 50 years of service.
