Christine Baldauf, a 1995 graduate of Downsville Central School, and Leslie Wright, a 1995 graduate of Andes Central School, were inducted into Elmira College Hall of Fame, as part of the 1997 Elmira College Women’s Soccer Team, Oct. 14. Coached by Tim Barerra and Janet Urban, the 1997 Elmira College Women’s Soccer team experienced the most successful season in program history. After going 13-3 in the regular season, the Soaring Eagles reached the second round of the NCAA tournament, beating Ithaca College in penalty kicks. This marked the first time a women’s team qualified for the NCAA Tournament in Elmira College history.
