Colchester Police endorsed Acting Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith as their choice for District Attorney in November’s general election, via a press release.
“Our department has had the opportunity to work with Mr. Smith while he was Delaware County’s DWI prosecutor, and then as Chief District Attorney,” the press release said.
Smith has proven himself to be someone who holds people accountable for their actions and to help victims of crimes.
“The District Attorney has a role of protecting our communities and making sure criminals are held accountable for the crimes they commit,” the press release said.
Communities can put their trust in Smith, the release further stated. As Acting District Attorney Smith has been helpful, answered any questions police might have, and has successfully convicted misdemeanors and felonies.
“Our department believes that Mr. Smith is the best candidate,” the endorsement states.
