Byron G. Trimbell

Byron G. Trimbell, 75, of Bovina, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024 at his home.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1948 in Margaretville, the son of the late George Q. and Anna E.M. (Schonewolf) Trimbell.

Byron was a lifelong resident of Bovina, attending a one-room schoolhouse until sixth grade and going on to graduate in 1966 from Delaware Academy. After graduating from high school, Byron married Honora J. Rossley on Oct. 23, 1971.

He worked on the family farm in Crescent Valley, went on to work for Delaware Bulldozing and then spent over 20 years as assistant manager with LaFever Excavating. Byron then owned and operated Trimbell’s Custom Sawmill.

He was an avid lover of the outdoors. Farming, maple sugaring and hunting were among his greatest passions. He had a quick wit and often was credited with “Byronisms” that he shared with family and friends.

Besides his parents, Byron was predeceased by a sister-in-law Joanne Kriesel.

Byron is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Honora J. (Rossley) Trimbell of Bovina; children Sean (Patti) Trimbell of Bloomville, Brandye (Daniel) Grommeck of Andes, Chad (Karena) Trimbell of Sidney Center and Brent (Desireé) Trimbell of Hobart; 12 grandchildren: Joanna, Brandon, Alex, Rachel, Addyson, Lila, John Byron, Nora Marie, Patrick, Shae, Brooklynn and Annalynn; siblings Robert Kriesel, Linnell (Kathy) Trimbell and Derwood (Cindy) Trimbell; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Bovina United Presbyterian Church, 2128 Bovina Road, Bovina Center; burial in Bovina Cemetery.
