Active shooter threat shuts down Delhi business district

DELHI - A threat of an active shooter shutdown Delhi’s business district at approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning, according to Delhi Police Chief Mike Mills, when a caller, who is known to law enforcement, made a telephone call to the Delaware County Clerk’s Office threatening to come to the area and shoot people.

Vendors at Courthouse Square farmers market were evacuated from the square, and the immediate area is in “lockdown,” Mills said.

Traveling public should steer clear of the area, Mills said, and seek alternate driving routes as no traffic is being permitted into the quadrant containing the Delaware County courthouse and vicinity.

In addition to Delhi police, Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies, SUNY University Police and New York State Police are on site to control the situation.

This is a developing story.
