Workforce Development Strategy Session For Business Owners

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will host a free workforce development event aimed at business owners and managers struggling to hire staff or have employees in drug and/ or alcohol treatment and recovery.

Industry and field experts will help employers pinpoint ways to help their employees in recovery, or prospective employees, to be successful both on and off the job.

This strategy session will include a 15-minute film, produced by Chamber member Vecc Videography in collaboration with the LEAF Council on Alcoholism and Addictions and Friends of Recovery of Delaware and Otsego Counties, Inc. (FOR-DO), with targeted, actionable suggestions for success in the workplace, a short Q & A session and takeaway literature to provide a recovery-positive workplace.

Representatives from the Delaware County Probation Department, Delaware County Drug Treatment Court, CDO Workforce and the Department of Labor will be on hand to advise business owners of accountability requirements from this prospective labor pool and of tax and other financial incentives available for businesses willing to hire from this demographic.

The event will be held at the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, 5 1/2 Main Street, Delhi, on Tuesday, May 28, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

For more information and to RSVP call the Chamber at 607- 746-2281.
