Downsville Girls T&F Take The Lead At Walton Meet

Randy Shepard/The Reporter WALTON - During a track and field meet in Walton Monday, Downsville won the boys side and Schenevus-Worcester (S-W) won the girls side on the track in a meet between Downsville, Charlotte Valley-South Kortright-Andes,(CV-SK-A) and S-W.

Downsville won 12 out of 16 events including the discus, high jump and shot put and discus.

Eagle Zelda Adams took first place in the 400 meter and first place in the 100 meter hurdles. Teammate Sam Severing won the long jump, 100 and 200. Lindsey Parks won a pair of events as well, which included the 800 meter and 3,000 meter races according to Downsville Coach Rich Fenney.

CV-SK-A’s Morgan Pierce and Laureli Magnan won the high and triple jumps, respectively. Teammate Madison Pedrick won the 1,500 in 6:16.

On the boys portion of the event, CV-SK-A, Juan Martinez Sosa took first place in the 110-meter hurdles - 25.8; Xander Andrades took first in the discus with a throw of 99’ 3” and Michael Premura-Milton took first place both the 100 (11.6 seconds) and 200 (23.7 seconds).

Downsville’s Andrew Ruiz won the 400 with a time of 57.2 and Aaron Steele took first in the shot put with a throw of 34 8.
