SK Girls Claim the Pat Grasso Hoop Title

Rosie Cunningham/The Reporter LAURENS - The South Kortright girls handily clinched the Pat Grasso Basketball Tournament title on Saturday.

The SK squad advanced to the championship game following an 82-12 domination of Gilbertsville-Mount Upton in the opening round of hoop play.

Center Jordan Finch tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Senior Bella DuBois dropped a hearty 22 points and contributed five assists and seven boards. Teammate Azalyn Brunson also had 22 points in the win.

“It was pretty good- we played well overall and played as a unit,” said DuBois. “We just worked well together.”

G-MU’s Savannah Bresee had more than half of the points for the losing team with seven points.

SK advanced to the title game against Hunter-Tannersville, who defeated Laurens in the first-round of the Grasso tournament.

The Rams dropped the Wildcats 46-14 for the win on Saturday.

SK’s Finch had yet another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and a pair of blocks- she was also named the MVP of the tournament.

Brunson dropped eight points and was named to the all-tournament team. Teammate Anna Reinshagen tallied six steals and six buckets and five assists.

“The season is going well,” said DuBois. “We are getting better as we play each game.”
