Silver Sleigh Flyer Rolls Weekends at the Delaware & Ulster

The Silver Sleigh Flyer will roll along the tracks of the Delaware & Ulster (D&U) Railroad on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23, taking passengers on a magical scenic winter wonderland train ride.

The special holiday run of the Silver Sleigh Flyer will roll out of the Arkville station at 12 noon and 3 p.m.

Santa Claus will join passengers the train to visit with children of all ages as the Flyer rolls through winter landscape of the Western Catskills. Along the way passengers will be treated to a hot chocolate, coffee or tea and gingerbread people, along with a treat to take home from our friends and Santa’s helpers at Rhinecliff Catering.

The Silver Sleigh Flyer is a developing story by Delaware & Ulster Railroad General Manager Wes Coates and Halcottsville resident Sharon Seuss, and tells how a passenger train in the Catskills helped Santa complete his rounds when a winter storm forced him to make an unscheduled landing along the tracks. The D&U will be transformed into the Flyer for this special series of rides.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.durr.org; reservations are required for all trains. For children 3 – 12 years of age, fares will be $24, and $28 for adults and seniors. Children under age 3 will be the guests of the railroad. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 845-586–3877 or at stationmaster@durr.org.
