Walton Field Hockey Squad Splits Two Games

Randy Shepard/The Reporter WALTON —The Walton Central School field hockey team hosted two games last week. On Wednesday, the Warriors edged Sidney, 2-1, with all of the goals coming in the first 30 minutes.

Lauren Frank scored first for the home forces, on a penalty corner five minutes into the game, with an assist from Jordynn Palmatier. With 18 minutes left in the half, Camberly Van Valkenburg scored on an assist from Frank.

Sidney’s goal came from Kaitlyn Bookout on an assist by Hannah Gray.

Walton had eight shots and four penalty corners, while Sidney took six shots and five corners. Walton’s Riley McAdams saved five shots to the cage, while her Sidney counterpart, Makayla Phillips stopped six.

On Friday, the Warriors lost to visiting Harpursville, 4-0. The Hornets scored two goals in each half, with Shyanne Stilson caging the two first half tallies in the last minute. Olivia Weist and Sarah Peterson had the second half goals. Aubrey Clark and Makenna Lowe provided assists for the winners.
