DOWNSVILLE — The Jane Flannery Memorial girls’ soccer tournament went to the host Downsville team by a 5-0 margin, but it could have been closer, as visiting Morris put up a battle, which was stopped by a strong defense by the Eagles.

The home forces scored almost immediately, as Kailee Young scored in the second minute and again in the eighth minute. The Mustangs got several corner kicks and some shots were close, but not successful, thanks to the home forces defense.

Later in the first half, the Eagles connected again, as Zelda Adams found the range and built the lead to 3-0. The home forces got a pair of corner kicks near the end of the half, but they were cleared by the Morris defense.
