Cod’s Corner

By Tom Coddington

This week, we are featuring our annual Football and Soccer Guide. It has been a lot of work, especially for Rosie, who coordinated the bulk of it. She even got into the football picture, although yours truly said, “I can do that.”

A few weeks ago, we found out that a group of Section IX coaches was forming an eight-man football league. It is mostly because many small schools don’t have enough players to make a decent team.

Last year, veteran Roscoe coach Fred Ahart fielded a team with players from four different schools — Roscoe, Livingston Manor, Downsville and Sullivan West.

This year, SW is on its own, and Roscoe, Manor and Downsville are together again in the new league. We will see first hand on Saturday, when R/LM/D plays host to SW.
