Walton Central School Appoints Interim Principals, Athletic Director

WALTON - The Walton Central School Board of Education met Tuesday, Sept. 11 at noon and approved the appointment of an interim principal for the middle and high schools. The board of education also appointed a new athletic director.

Mark Dupra was appointed as interim high school principal and Thomas “Tim” McMullin was appointed as interim middle school principal.

Dupra and McMullin are retired administrators experienced in building leadership and have served as principals during their careers and have worked as interims in retirement.

The district will search for full-time replacements, according to a press released issued on Sept. 12. 

WCS Acting Superintendent Larry Thomas said the process will include an extensive search that will include the involvement of the community and staff.

WCS Counselor Justin Preston has been appointed as the new athletic director. Preston coaches boys soccer and has been employed in the district for 19 years.

The three were appointed to fill vacancies created by recent administrative resignations.
