Town of Bovina Bicentennial Logo Contest

The Town of Bovina will celebrate its bicentennial in 2020. The celebration will include the creation of a logo to be used on mailings, brochures, promotional materials or souvenirs connected with the commemoration of Bovina’s 200th birthday.

Here are the rules:

• The contest is open to any individual of any age.

• Artists may submit up to two entries and must complete an entry form for each.

• The Town of Bovina Bicentennial Committee reserves the right to extend all deadlines associated with the contest to ensure that a sufficient number of entries are received.

• Design rules: o Each design must lend itself to different formats, including publications, signage, website, promotional items and other printed material. It must reproduce well in different sizes. Any colors may be used, but the logo also must work in black and white. o All submitted designs and source images must be the original work of the artist. No third-party artwork or images, including clipart, or copyrighted graphics may be used. o Artwork that has been previously published or exhibited is not permitted. o Your logo design should include the words Bovina, New York, Bicentennial, 1820-2020

• Please submit the design either in electronic form (.png, .jpg or .pdf), with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi or in paper form. Paper submissions should not be larger than 8.5 by 11 inches.

• The submitted design should not include the artist’s name or initials, allowing the judges to review the submission anonymously. The artist of the winning entry will be allowed to add his/her signature or initials for the final published logo.

• If chosen as the winner, the artist agrees that the Town of Bovina will become the rightful owner of the image and any likeness of the image and may alter and reproduce the image at its discretion.

• All entries will be judged on the artwork’s originality, uniqueness, aptness, and the artwork’s creative ideas that reflect those things that make the Town of Bovina special.

• Even after consideration of all entries, there may be no “winner.”

• Judging decisions are final and may not be appealed.

• The deadline for entries is Oct. 20, 2018. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.

• The winning entry will be announced at the Bovina Library Farm Feast on Saturday, Nov. 3.

• The person submitting the winning entry will receive recognition in press releases and other publicity related to the logo.

Those interested in making a submission should contact town historian Ray LaFever at bovinahistorian@gmail.com or at 607-832-4609 for an official entry form.
