D/R/LM Girls Win Tri-Valley League T&F Meet

CHERRY VALLEY — The Downsville/ Roscoe/ Livingston Manor girls’ track and field team won seven events and recorded 150 points to win the Tri- Valley League championship on Wednesday.

Although host Cherry Valley- Springfield had no indiviual or team wins, it came out second with 102 points. Stamford got four first places and had 84.5 points, Laurens/Milford had two winners and 46 points, Franklin had two wins and 35 points, Gilbertsville- Mount Upton/Morris one win and 20 points, South Kortright/Charlotte Valley 16.5 points, Andes 14 and one first place, Schenevus/ Worcester 10, Edmeston three and Richfield Springs none.

For the victorious Eagles, Emily Brown won the 200-meter dash in 26.6 seconds, the 400-meter dash in one minute and 1.4 seconds, and anchored the winning 400-meter relay, which also included Sam Severing, Lindsey Parks and Kailee Young; Severing won the 100-meter dash in 13 seconds; Hannah Shaver won the high jump in four feet and 10.1 inches and the long jump at 15 feet and six inches; Zelda Adams won the 400-meter hurdles in one minute and 15 seconds.

Stamford’s Katrina Alexander won the 800-meter run in two minutes and 42.2 seconds, and the 1,500-meter run in five minutes and 32.8 seconds. The Indians also won the 3,200-meter relay in 11 minutes and 34.9 seconds, with the team of Alexander, Melanie Hoyt, Destiny Bertram and Leanna Mcauliffe, and the 1,600-meter with Skylar Shafer, Nicole Bryant, Mcauliffe and Alexander.

Franklin’s Kristen Brownell won the 3,000-meter run in 12 minutes and 33.7 seconds, and teammate Maddy Ackley won the 100-meter hurdles in 18 seconds. Andes’ Laurynn Weaver won the discus with a heave of 85 feet; Laurens/Milford’s Emily Stanley of won the steeplechase in nine minutes and four seconds, and teammate Sophia Barnes won the triple jump at 29 feet and 8.25 inches; the shot put honors went to Kathryn Hawkins of GMU/M with an effort of 31 feet and 11 inches.

The boys title went to host CV-S with 129 points. GMU/M was second with 93 points, D/R/ LM was third with 83, followed by L/M 58, S/W 50, Franklin and SK/CV both at 30, Edmeston 23, Andes 21, RS seven and Stamford one.

The Eagles had three first places. Desmond Lambe won the long jump at 19 feet and 7.75 seconds and the triple jump at 40 feet and 6.5 inches, and joined with Aaron Steele, Halle Helper and Zach Gannett to win the 400-meter relays. Also winning twice by himself was SK/CV’s Michael Milton, who won the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.6 seconds.

L/M’s Finn Hall was a double winner with a shot put for 48 feet and 4.25 inches, and a discus throw of 134 feet.
