DA’s Bruce Wins Section IV Girls’ Pentathlon

SIDNEY ­— Delaware Academy senior Logan Bruce racked up 3,075 points to easily win the Section IV small school Pentathlon on Friday, and won all of the five events. She recorded 753 points in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.69 seconds, 736 in the high jump at 1.6 meters, 595 in the long jump at 5.13 meters, 412 in the shot put at 8.19 meters, and 579 in the 800-meter run in two minutes and 39.54 seconds.

Destiny Little of Lansing was second with 2,280 points, followed by Hannah Bruno of Odessa-Montour with 2,225, Hailey Perraut of O-M 2,005; Zelda Adams of Downsville/ Roscoe/Livingston Manor 1,720, and Michaela Valkavich of Andes 1,171.

In the boys’ half of the meet, Jon Jackson of Union Springs won with 2,786 points, Coy Austo of Greene had 2,697, Liam Matthews of Sidney 2,597, Ethan Burt of Lansing 2,439, Warren Pardee of DA 2,273. Ryan Arnold of Sidney 1,946, Thomas Cartossa of Sidney 1,759 and Desmond Lambe of D/R/LM 1,721.

Matthews won the 110-meter hurdles with 659 points for a time of 16.67 seconds. Lambe and Jackson both had 544 points for high jumps of 1.7 meters. Austin won the long jump with 606 points for a leap of 6.09 meters and the shot put with 585 for a distance of 11.64 meters. Jackson won the 1,500-meter run with 767 points for a time of four minutes and 26.64 seconds.
