National Crime Victims’ Rights Week April 8 - 14

The Delaware County District Attorney’s and Sheriff’s Offices ask Delaware County residents to pause and recognize the week of April 8 - 14 as Crime Victims’ Rights Week and honor all crime victims, survivors and advocates who serve victims with respect and enforce victims’ rights by addressing their needs throughout the year.

Americans suffer 22 million crimes each year, and these crimes affect them, their family members, friends, neighbors and coworkers emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually.

Every effort must be made to ensure that victims are provided protection, and treated with fairness, dignity and respect as they interact with the criminal justice system.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is to promote fairness, dignity and respect by ensuring that all victims are afforded their legal rights and provided with assistance as they face the financial, physical and psychological impact of crime.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the services offered to crime victims by the Office of Sheriff, District Attorney’s Office, victims’ witness services, criminal justice officials and residents.
