By Rosie Cunningham

EAST MEREDITH - Charlotte Valley Central School (CVCS) will host a spaghetti dinner to help a student and family displaced by a fire which erupted Friday, Feb. 9.

The spaghetti dinner will be held Thursday Feb. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, according to CVCS Superintendent James Harter.

“The event was organized by the staff in a response to one of our students and his grandmother being displaced by a fire,” he said.

Upon arrival on scene at 478 Dehning Road in the middle of the night, responding units found a four-unit apartment building fully involved. Two children tragically passed away and another individual was injured during the fire. Harter said the student and family that the money will benefit lived in the adjoining apartment.

“Charlotte Valley students are family to us,” said Harter. “When one of ours is in need of help, the entire school community rallies to help. The staff also raised over $500 in cash to pay for necessities. It is a donation dinner, so whatever people can donate, we will take it. Mr. Molle will be one of the celebrity chefs. He also has been one of the major organizers of the event.”

Charlotte Valley Central School is located at 15611 NY- 23 in the town of Davenport. For more information, call 607-278- 5541.
