Sidney Boys Win at Deposit/Hancock Tournament

Benjamin Patton/The Reporter DEPOSIT — The host Deposit/ Hancock boys’ basketball team outscored Sidney, 15-6, in the first quarter of the championship of its tournament on Saturday, and had a 29-23 lead at the half, but the Warriors dominated the second half, and finished with a 59-49 victory to win the tourney.

Ethan Finch led the way for Sidney with 21 points, and was named as the most valuable player in the tournament, Malik Howard added 18 points and Steven Smith added 11. The Eagles Darren Shaver pumped in a game-high 24 points, and teammate Cole Russell chipped in with 15.

On Friday, D/H defeated Roscoe, 68-41, Shaver netted 21 points and Russell had 19 for the Eagles.

Erick Hill and Alex Rosario each had 10 points for the Blue Devils, with Dan Clancy tallying eight.

Benjamin Patton/The Reporter In Saturday’s game for third place, Roscoe dropped a 65- 59 decision to Morris. Matt Murphy scored 27 points and Robert Child 15 for the victorious Mustangs. For the Blue Devils, Nik Breihof had 14 points, Noah Steele 11, and Clancy and Rosario netting 10 apiece. Rosario had nine rebound, Steele eight and Ty Engle six. Clancy was named to the all-tournament team
