Hamden

Hamden Senior Citizens meet for their Christmas luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 13, (note the change of normal meeting date) at noon at the Hamden Town Hall. Those attending will be treated to a catered, sit-down dinner. Barbara Hanselman of the Farmer’s Wife will provide roast pork, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, homemade applesauce, rolls and sticky buns, lemon meringue and apple and strawberry rhubarb pies. Cost of the meal is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Do bring your own table service. The meal will be served family style. Following the meal, the Walton Elementary School Select Chorus under the direction of Theresa Bolton will entertain the group with seasonal songs followed by a sing-a-long with children and seniors. Parents, grandparents and area folks are welcome to come to the luncheon ($15 per person) or to hear the children at 12:45 p.m. for free. If you have not already made reservations but still want to come, call Ginny Wilcox at 607-865-4346 by Friday, Dec. 8. If the Walton schools are closed that day for snow, the meal and entertainment will be on Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Hamden Town Hall at noon. Those coming are encouraged to come early to get a seat of choice, enjoy cheese and crackers, and visit with neighbors and friends.

Start your holiday season by attending the Walton Community Band Concert on Monday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Walton high school auditorium. The band will play some seasonal and other pieces with solos and ensembles interspersed amongst the selections. Then the audience is invited to join the musicians for refreshments in the cafeteria. The audience is guaranteed a delightful time hearing voices and a variety of musical instruments creating memorable musical moments. This is also a great time for former musicians to see what this band does and to consider dusting off that trumpet, flute, saxophone, or drums to join Valerie Loveland and Julian Wilcox from Hamden for a fun time making music with other area folks. The group practices on Monday nights. Ray Bartlett, high school band director, directs this group.

Church services for the Hamden, DeLancey and West Delhi churches for Sunday, Dec. 10, will be held in the Hamden church at 11 a.m. Rev. Patty Wolff will be leading the service.
