Thank You For Your Service

With the approaching Veterans Day, I would like to ask that you recognize the troops that are still out here fighting this good fight for the benefit of all we serve.

There are many things happening around the world that our military is enduring that you never hear about. Honor the past, that is great, however, we are here now. We just had a soldier die recently from an IED, and you know, it never made the news. It was drowned out by all the political unrest. We are still here, still standing on the wall, protecting the flag that people continue to disrespect. This is why we stand! Nothing is more degrading and demoralizing than to be ignored. Either way we will continue to stand a post “until properly relieved.” This is our oath. We are the keepers of the flag! Well if you did not know, I am a reservist and a Delaware County resident currently serving in Baghdad, Iraq with the 791st Engineer Detachment (FEST-A) out of Ft. Drum, N.Y. We are a small team that does engineering/architecture design and assessments for forward units. Our current duties cover all of Iraq and Syria. There are 8 members of which three of us are native New Yorkers. So, until I can walk the Steam Mill Forest (Masonville), enjoy the green grass and the crisp Delaware County air again, I say farewell. V/R
