Contributed Photo As reported in the Oct. 11 issue of The Reporter, Gannon Frisbee, a 2016 graduate of Downsville Central School (DCS), was among four finalist eligible for the Boy Scouts of America Leatherstocking Council 2017 Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award. According to www.leatherstockingcouncil.org, Frisbee was the recipient of the award, which was presented to him by Congresswoman Claudia Tenney at the Oct. 18 leadership dinner in Utica.

Frisbee completed his Eagle Scout Project while still a student at DCS. Initially, the project was to replace the floor of Downsville’s James S. Moore American Legion Post #167. While removing the old floor, he found that much more work was needed to insure the structural integrity of the building. He reached out to the construction math class at DCS and members of the community for help.

Frisbee said, “It was an honor and a pleasure to receive this award, but I could not have done it without the help of so many. I truly appreciate all the support that I received while completing my project and throughout my years at Downsville Central School. Thank you.”
