D/H Stickhandlers Edge Warriors

Benjamin Patton/The Reporter WALTON — The Deposit/ Hancock field hockey team traveled to Walton on Friday, and took charge early, en route to a 2-1 victory. The Eagles tallied both of their goals in the first half, while the Warriors found the cage in the second half.

Kyra Martin caged the first goal on an assist by Aubrin Smith. Mikayla Martin notched the other goal, with Emily Raymond providing the assist.

The home forces broke through in the second 30 minutes, when Carissa Crandall scored on a pass from Jordan Johnston.

D/H had a 14-6 advantage in shots, and also had 12 penalty corners to the Warriors’ five.

Riley McAdams in the Walton cage was credited with 12 saves, while the Eagles’ ’keepers Laycee Drake an Marissa Reid teamed up for five stops.
