Gray will direct a workshop focused on an alternative photographic process called wet-plate photography on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Roxbury Arts Center, 5025 Vega Mountain Road, Roxbury. Due to the hands-on nature of this workshop, space is limited to six participants, aged 16 and up. The registration fee for this full-day workshop is $100 per person, which includes all materials. Advanced registration is required. To register, or for more information, visit roxburyartsgroup.org or call the Roxbury Arts Group at 607.326.7908.

At this workshop, participants will learn to make traditional wet-plate tintypes, ambrotypes, and glass-plate negatives. Students will explore, from start to finish, how to go about the hobby of wet-plate, from where and how to purchase equipment, safety measures, chemical preparation, coating and exposing plates and varnishing images. Students will go home with at least one tintype and glass plate. Students should bring a lunch and wear clothing that can be stained.

For additional details about the workshop or to register, visit the roxburyartsgroup.org or call 607-326-7908.
