Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Opening in October

By Rosie Cunningham

DELHI - Coming soon to Delhi will be the long-awaited facility where elderly family and friends can call home and/ or recover from serious health events.

The completion date for the Delhi Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is slated for Sept. 30 and the anticipated grand opening is scheduled for late October or the beginning of November, depending on the inspections by the New York State Department of Health.

The brand new state-of-theart skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is located on New York State Route 10 in Delhi. The center will offer both short term and long term quality care and services to the surrounding community.

Anticipating the grand opening in October, construction continues to progress both inside and outside the building. A freshly-paved driveway leads you to the entry lobby of this state-of-the-art skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

Personal Healthcare LLC broke ground at the former Countryside Care Center site on state Route 10 in Delhi on March 29, 2016. On that date, according to LeChase Construction Project Executive Mike Pipher, once construction is complete and the state approval given, the center will begin accepting patients.

The Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center will house 176 beds in two wings that will cater to the area’s nursing and rehabilitation needs. Fifty-six beds will be dedicated to patient rehabilitation and 120 beds to nursing care.

On the same ground breaking day, Ephraim Zagelbaum, the chief operating officer of Personal Healthcare LLC, expressed excitement with the beginning of the next phase of the project.

“We’re excited to bring beds and patients back to this area and create jobs for the community,” he said.

Director of Economic Development for Delaware County Glenn Nealis said the Industrial Development Agency had been working with Personal Healthcare LLC on a pilot program. The program’s tax program requires the new owners to pay taxes on the current assessed value now and gradually increase the tax rate over ten years until it reflects the assessed value of the facility once renovations are complete, Nealis said. “They’ll be paying more than what the last owners were paying because the last owners were not paying taxes. The property is currently assessed at $2.7 million and the company is investing approximately $20 million for renovations. The municipality will begin receiving taxes immediately and regularly, going forward.”
