The judging for the flower barrels was done Monday, July 31. The winners were Justin Amato and Barbara Homovich of Downsville. Congratulations. The Colchester Chamber of Commerce thanks everyone that did a barrel.

The Colchester Community United Methodist Church will hold its annual yard sale and bake sale on Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the church. Any items you care to donate will be appreciated, but no clothing at this sale - keep it for the annual fall rummage sale. Donated items are to be at the church on Friday, Aug. 25 so they can be marked. Set up day will be that Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bake sale items can be dropped off Saturday, Aug. 26 by 9 a.m.; for more information call Fern Hale at 363-7844.

The Downsville Women’s Club is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year they started in 1947, so in celebration they are giving away ice cream sundaes on Aug. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Downsville Fire Hall. Come and enjoy a sundae with trimmings.

The annual Fuller Hill Festival is Saturday, Aug. 11, on Fuller Hill. Bring a dish to pass and your own drink, a lawn chair and come to enjoy the music and great food. Meal at 4; bring your own table service too. There are a few tables and tents but if you want to bring your own that is okay, just call Jody at 363-2894. Music in the afternoon will be a local band from Walton - Ernie Kinch Band, from 3 to 6 p.m. then at 7 the Outside Band from New Jersey. This year is the 20th year of the Fuller Hill Festivals, so come and have fun with the Williams family. Corn hole tournaments, beer pong, a photo booth - all are welcome to come to enjoy the roast pig, clams, corn on the cob, and plenty of other food.

The Colchester Senior Citizens held the annual basket social Friday, Aug. 4 and they want to thank everyone. This year was better then last year and we will be looking forward to next year.

This coming Thursday, Aug. 10, is the Downsville Ladies Auxiliary meeting at the fire hall at 7 p.m.

Aug. 17 is the annual senior citizens picnic. This year it will be held at the American Legion Hall at noon. Barbecued chicken will be prepared by club members; just bring a dish to pass and your own table service and some games to play. Music will be provided. Come and enjoy a good day, relax and enjoy the picnic, visiting and a very short meeting.

Congratulations to my granddaughter Jessica Lacey who had the closing on her home last week.

A big thank you to all who helped with the funeral luncheon Saturday for the Paul Doig Sr. family at the Downsville Fire Hall. It was very much appreciated by Sis Doig and the family.
