Last week’s trivia question: What was the largest age group to compete in this year’s Delhi Covered Bridge Run? Females, age 31-40. Congratulations to the participants for a job well done.

This week’s trivia question: What Civil war battles will be reenacted at the Delaware County Historical Association on June 24 and 25, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and 9 a.m.-4 p.m., respectively?

Community volunteers of the week are Carson Pashley and Mason Thompson who raised money to help pay for a service dog for Evan Kruppo. Evan, a second grade student at Delaware Academy, has autism. Carson is a classmate of Evan’s and he wanted to help out his friend, and raised $496 for the service dog selling raffle tickets and bake sale items. Mason, who is only four years old, raised $196 in two hours selling lemonade. He wanted to help so he and his mom went to the store to get supplies, made a sign and started selling lemonade. The cost of a service dog is $17,000. It’s great that these boys want to support their friend. The next fundraiser for Evan is a 31 raffle; $10 raffle tickets will be sold and 31 prizes will be given, worth over $800, in the month of July. Tickets will be sold at the Meredith Dairy Festival on June 17. There will also be a duck game with prizes set up for the kiddos or make a donation online at N5298f. You will also have a chance to donate at the Fair on the Square the first and last Friday in July. They say it takes a village to raise a child.

The third annual French Toast for Father will be held Saturday, June 17 from 8 until 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 4 Clinton Street. Dad’s eat for free: others for a free will offering. There will be french toast, sausage, home fries, fruit and beverages. Reservations are suggested by calling 607-746-8070. This event is sponsored by the Delaware County Community Action Network (DC C.A.N.). A portion of the proceeds will go to the David “Pops” Martin Scholarship Fund.

The Meredith Dairy Fest will be held Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Sunday June 18 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Meredith Square on Turnpike Road/ Honest Brook Road in Meridale. PetAPalooza Pet Adoption Day at Curtis Lumber on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be a chicken ‘n biscuit dinner on Saturday, June 17, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Hamden Hill Ridge Riders Club House, 1021 Covert Hollow in Hamden. Kick off the weekend with a meal dad will love.

Book reading Saturday, June 17, at 6 p.m. at the Bovina Public Library, 33 Maple Ave. in Bovina Center. Author Ada Calhoun will read from “Wedding Toasts I’ll Never Give” followed by Q&A’s and a celebratory toast - to marriage, commitment and reading. Auditions for Orpheus Theatre’s production of “Spring Awakening” will be held in The Atrium at Foothills Performing Arts & Civic Center in Oneonta on Monday, June 19 and Tuesday, June 20 at 7 p.m. No preparation necessary; music will be provided at the auditions. Wear comfortable clothing as you will be asked to dance. If you are unable to attend the auditions you may submit a video audition that showcases your vocal range to Those who wish to audition and are under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian - mature subject matter. The dates of the performance will be Sept. 15 -17. The cast includes five teen females (14+), six teen males (14+), one adult female (35+) and one adult male (35+).

There will be a jam session at Saint John’s Episcopal church on Main Street in Delhi on Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m. Come to enjoy live music; table games and refreshments will be served. Bring your instrument or a game, or just come for a fun evening. Free admission.

The Delhi Women & Men’s Club will hold the June meeting at the Delaware County Historical Association at 5:30 p.m. June 20. The meeting will include the presentation of scholarships and the installation of officers for the club. Dinner is $23 and will consist of a cheese and cracker platter, barbecued grilled chicken breast, potato salad, tossed salad, corn bread, coffee, iced tea, lemonade and sheet cake.
