The contest was held in memory of Nicholas “Cubby” Dungan, who passed away two years ago. An adventurous youngster, Nicholas was an artist with a vivid imagination.

The three students selected as winners from 70 submissions were Chloe Edwards, first grade, first place; Eli Williams, third-grade, second place; and Emma Wood, fourth-grade, the third place winner.

First prize was a bicycle and a helmet, and Chloe’s art will be featured on the back of a shirt for an upcoming golf tournament that will raise funds for “Cubby’s Christmas Kindness,” a charitable organization run by the Dungan family to fund random acts of kindness within the community.

Eli won a basket of art supplies, and Emma received five tickets to the Walton Theatre, as well as some snacks.

Greg and Kathy Dungan, both Walton Central School graduates, and their son Cooper, presented the prizes to the winners.

The family said they hope to continue the contest next year.

Townsend teacher Tina Ammon coordinated the art contest on behalf of the Dungan family.
